Virium 2.0 are motorcycle gloves from the Finnish brand Rukka, which were developed with motorcycle trips in mind in changing weather conditions. Thanks to the excellent, breathable Gore-Tex membrane, the glove construction is waterproof and protects the motorcyclist's hand from strong gusts of wind, so we can practically use the gloves all year round. Gore-Grip technology allows for a secure fit and significantly improves the feel of the motorcycle's handlebar grips. Knuckle and wrist protectors provide high-level protection in the event of a fall. Additionally, reflective elements have been placed on the cuffs to increase the motorcyclist's visibility after dark and in difficult weather conditions on the road. Special inserts have been placed on the thumbs and index fingers, giving the possibility of operating a smartphone or GPS navigation with gloves on. What's more, the left index finger is additionally equipped with a wiper for quickly wiping the visor in a motorcycle helmet. The elastic fabric from which the Virium 2.0 gloves are made guarantees full freedom of movement, thus increasing the comfort of use. The presented features confirm that the Rukka Virium 2.0 gloves are a worthy successor to the Virium model.

Technologies:

The operation of Gore-Tex is based on a semi-permeable membrane made of porous Teflon pressed into the fabric. These micro-holes are larger than the individual water molecules that make up sweat released as water vapour, and at the same time smaller than the multi-molecular packets that make up liquid water (e.g. rain). The difference in water vapour concentration on both sides of the membrane creates osmotic pressure, which allows water vapour to be transported from a medium with a higher concentration to a medium with a lower concentration, while at the same time the membrane is impermeable to water.

Gloves made using a special three-layer construction consisting of a lining constituting the inner layer, a Gore-Tex membrane and an outer layer, guarantee both excellent protection against unfavorable weather conditions and the highest touch sensitivity. The essence of this technology is the connection of all three layers so that they do not move relative to each other, thus limiting the phenomenon of hand slipping in the glove. Such a construction increases dexterity and a secure grip - aspects that are extremely important when riding a motorcycle.
